Bechtelsville Agway was established over 30 years ago by Robert A. Borneman, out of his passion for agriculture. We are still family owned and operated in the very same location and still passionate about our business and community.
This property started out as a coal yard. Trains would dump coal along the train track. A mill was built in 1922; it was the first electric mill in the area. Later on Farm Bureau took over the mill and built an addition in 1967; this is where the current store is operating today. In the late 1980s, Agway took over the property and then sold to the current owner, Robert Borneman in 1990. Since 1990 is has been run as a small family business, who has been serving the area now for 30 years. Sam the current manager had been working in and around the store since he was 10 years old. His wife Katie joined the family business in 2007 and tries to keep Sam sane from all the craziness that has been going on. Our two children are also growing up in the store.
